What you will learn in Electricity & Circuits
1. Building Circuits
A circuit is a closed path. Break it anywhere and nothing flows; short it anywhere and far too much does.
2. Voltage, Current and Resistance
Ohm's law ties the three together, and power ties them to how bright the bulb actually gets.
3. Series and Parallel
The same components wired two ways behave completely differently — and only one of those ways is any use for house wiring.
4. Capacitors in Circuits
The capacitor from the last module, given a clock: charging and discharging along a curve set entirely by RC.
5. Electromagnets
A current-carrying coil is a magnet — a first look at the connection the next module is built on.
6. Kirchhoff's Laws
When series and parallel run out, conservation of charge and of energy still work — one equation per junction, one per loop.
7. Finding Faults
A meter, a broken circuit, and the two readings that give every fault away.
8. Resistivity
A resistance belongs to one piece of wire; its resistivity belongs to the metal. And heat pushes a metal's resistivity up and a semiconductor's down.
9. Bridges and the Potentiometer
Two instruments whose best reading is zero: the Wheatstone bridge compares resistances, the potentiometer measures an EMF without drawing any current from it.
