Grades 9-10 Physics
Grades 9–10 — CBSE, ICSE, state boards, IGCSE
Bounded by the Class 9–10 board syllabus. Excludes torque, moment of inertia, rolling motion and angular momentum; simple harmonic motion; continuity, Bernoulli and viscous flow; wave interference, standing waves and the electromagnetic spectrum; and total internal reflection with its optical-fibre applications — all Class 11–12 material. Includes the board treatment of light: plane and spherical mirrors, refraction, the lens formula, focal length and power, and dispersion through a prism. Static electricity is included only at the qualitative level boards actually test it — charging by friction, contact and induction, and the everyday phenomena of sparks and lightning. Current electricity covers circuits, Ohm's law, series and parallel combinations and practical fault-finding, plus the magnetic effect of a current through solenoids and electromagnets. Coulomb's law as a calculation, electric field superposition, potential and equipotentials, capacitance, RC circuits and Kirchhoff's laws are all Class 11–12 material and are excluded. The magnetic effects unit now runs through field lines, the force on a conductor, induction, and the motor and generator. Heat is included at the board's own level: temperature against heat, specific heat capacity, the three modes of transfer, and latent heat with change of state. The gas laws, the four laws of thermodynamics, entropy and heat engines are Class 11–12 material and are excluded. Domestic wiring and safety are on this syllabus but are not yet authored on this platform. Relativity is not board material at any level of this syllabus and is excluded entirely: the Modern Physics module is on the Learn surface and reachable by any learner, but no part of it belongs to this Program. The same is true of quantum physics: none of it â not the photoelectric effect, not the Bohr model, not spectra â appears before Class 11, so the Quantum Physics module lends this Program nothing either.
